The BOOST Child and Youth Advocacy Centre in Toronto, Ontario, in partnership with Unity and Ryerson University, developed and evaluated a trauma-informed hip-hop dance intervention for youth who have experienced family violence. Participants explore and experiment with movement to relieve built-up tension and re-establish ownership over their bodies and mind, reducing the physical and psychological symptoms of trauma.
